Mircroblading FAQ’s

Microblading is a semi-permanent tattoo on the brow that is applied by hand (no machine). Safe, plant-based pigments are deposited into the very outer layer of skin with very small, individual, feathered strokes that perfectly mimic eyebrow hair. The result is a very natural-looking, well-shaped, fuller brow that you won’t have to fill in with makeup every day.

The pigment used in this procedure is semi-permanent so the effects of the procedure typically last up to 12 months or longer. Because of the unique qualities of each individual’s skin and lifestyles, we are unable to guarantee how long your results will last. You will likely need a touch-up within 6-24 months. Strict adherence to brow aftercare will also affect how your brows last over time and is highly recommended

You should NOT have microblading done if you are: Pregnant or nursing, have a history of keloids or hypertrophic scarring, diabetic (require doctor’s clearance), in chemotherapy (consult your doctor), have viral infections and/or diseases, have epilepsy, have a pacemaker (consult your doctor) or major heart problems, have had an organ transplant, have had skin irritations or Psoriasis near the treated area (rashes, sunburn, acne, etc.), are sick (cold, flu, etc.), have had Botox in the past 2 months, have taken Accutane in the past, uncontrolled high blood pressure and are in poor general health.

*We use pigments by PhiBrows which do not include metal particulates as some microblading pigments do.

The procedure is done using a hand tool, with a prepackaged, sterile, single-use “blade” made up of a grouping of needles that are 3x smaller than the needles that would be used in a tattoo machine. With the appropriate amount of pressure, the skin is scored and the pigment is deposited into the epidermis (outermost layer of skin). Think small paper cuts!

A consultation is required prior to the procedure. The first appointment will take approximately 2-3 hours. The second appointment, your 4-6 week enhancement/perfecting appointment, will take 1-2 hours.

Each individual will have a different experience with the level of discomfort associated with the service. Some say it is relaxing and they only feel the pressure being applied. Others say it feels about as uncomfortable as tweezing. Still, there are some who will feel that it is more uncomfortable. A topical anesthetic can be used to ensure your comfort during the procedure.

Absolutely, this is a great option for those who suffer from Alopecia, Trichotillomania, or have been through Chemotherapy. Microblading can even correct past wax catastrophes, over tweezing, or the normal hair thinning that occurs post-menopause.

When you leave from your appointment your brow area may appear pink and the pigment itself will seem darker than you may prefer. The day after your appointment few people would notice anything unusual. Throughout the healing process (1-2 weeks) they will slowly fade to a softer, more natural shade, but they will not be unpresentable. Please refrain from having microblading done before going on a beach vacation or a camping trip.

As often as you would like as long as 21 days has passed since your last appointment. You most likely won’t want or need a touch-up until at least 6 months have passed. An annual touch-up is recommended to keep your brows looking optimal.

We choose the shape of your new brows together. Whether you are just looking to enhance the fullness of your natural brow, or create a whole new shape, we will take it one step at a time. Your new shape will be applied with a cosmetic pencil first so that you can see how it will look on your face. We will not start the procedure until you are happy with what we have created.

Keep in mind that your brows will appear darker for the first couple of weeks than they will once they have healed. Once they have healed, we can fix any minor imperfections during your 4-week touch-up appointment. There is a no-guarantee removal process but it does generally give great results.

Get Arched, Feathered, or Defined Eyebrows by Cincinnati’s Best Estheticians.

Microblading is the hottest trend for eyebrows and a good excuse to book a day at the salon. At Mitchell’s Salon & Day Spa, we invite you to try this amazing technique that lets you choose the shape and color of the eyebrows you want. This semi-permanent treatment uses cosmetic tattooing to give your eyebrows arch and definition, with results lasting up to two years with proper care.

Microblading uses a technique known as micropigmentation. The process lets your beauty professional implant color underneath the skin’s surface. The technique uses tiny, sterile needles that deposit a non-toxic pigment, which produces results that look like natural hairs. Each stroke creates realistic eyebrows that you will be proud to show off.

The Microblading Procedure Begins with an Initial Consultation

Before we can book your appointment for microblading, we require you to book a 45-minute consultation with one of our esthetic professionals. We also require a $100 deposit to lock in your appointment for brow microblading. The price of the treatment includes four to six weeks of color enhancement. The entire treatment costs $600, with $200 touch-ups recommended every six months (with the recommended touch-up schedule costing $400 per year).

If you have already received microblading from an outside salon or provider, we can give you a customized pricing schedule during your consultation.

Long Lasting Results

Each treatment will give you luxuriously darker brows that last up to 12 months or longer. Your results may vary depending on the quality of your skin and the lifestyle you lead. Most salon customers require a touch-up every six to twenty-four months. To help your semi-permanent eyebrows last as long as possible, we will give you aftercare instructions. Following this protocol carefully will ensure your brows age gradually with few touch ups needed throughout the year.

Are You a Good Candidate for a Microblading Treatment?

The reason we require a consultation is because we want to make sure you are a good candidate for the microblading procedure. The best candidates for microblading are those with barely perceptible eyebrows. Even those who have experienced complete eyebrow loss like those suffering from Alopecia, Trichotillomania, or who have been through chemotherapy can benefit from this semi-permanent treatment.

You might not be a good candidate if you are diabetic, pregnant or nursing, or if you are currently undergoing chemotherapy. Those with a history of keloids or hypertrophic scarring may be denied treatment for your safety. If you have heart problems, skin problems, or a recent recipient of an organ transplant, these may also prevent you from scheduling a microblading treatment. Talk to your doctor if you are unsure if microblading is right for you.

How Microblading Works

When you show up for your microblading procedure, your beauty professional will use a sterilized, single use “blade” that is actually made up of a grouping of needles. Each needle is three-times smaller than the needles typically used on tattoo machines. With just the right amount of pressure, your skin will be scored, and the pigment deposited under the outermost layer of skin.

Topical Anesthetic Ensures Your Comfort

Each stroke of the single-use blade produces a cut that is very much like a papercut. Does this hurt? Some say it feels like tweezing while others feel only a slight amount of pressure. Your esthetician will apply a topical anesthetic to the area to help you fully relax and to desensitize the area prior to your treatment.

Bolder Brows in Two Appointments

Following your consultation, you will be booked for the first treatment, which takes two to three hours to complete. The second appointment, which is where your eyebrows are more boldly defined and perfected, takes about an hour or two.

At the end of your second appointment, you will have shapelier and more defined brows that, with proper care, can last for up to two years.

Choose Any Brow Shape You Like!

The beauty of microblading is that you get to choose the appearance of your finished eyebrows. You and your esthetician will choose the shape of your brows as a team. You might want more fullness to your natural brows or to create an entirely new shape. To help you envision how the final product will look, your beautician will outline the new shape with a cosmetic pencil. This lets you see how your new brows will look on your face, and we never start your appointment until you are 100% pleased with what we have created.

Get Ready to Have Darker, More Defined Brows

Your eyebrows will appear darker for the first couple of weeks after the treatment area has healed. Once the healing process is complete, your esthetician can correct any minor imperfections during your four-week touch-up appointment.

We guarantee that you will be happy with your eyebrow tattooing appointment from beginning to end. The microblading treatment produces excellent results. If you are unhappy for any reason, there is a removal process, but it is not guaranteed. This is why we encourage you to work with your esthetician to finalize your ideas before you start, so that you love your brows from tip to tip.
