Our History
Deborah Schmidt, a Cincinnati native & UC Graduate, opens Mitchell’s for hair, skin & nails on Montgomery Road in Montgomery with 10 employees.
Started the 1st education program in Cincinnati for new stylists that consisted of both theory and hands on curriculum.
Did our first photo shoot for direct mail and Cincinnati Enquirer advertisement.
We were the first tanning bed in Cincinnati and the appointments filled up immediately at $10 per appointment.
Business grew to a size where we had to work shifts at all stations. One designer would work 9am-3pm and the next would work 3pm-9pm.
Brought in internationally renowned stylists/educators to Cincinnati to train our stylists.
A tradition that we have maintained ever since.
Took a deep breath and moved the Montgomery salon to Kenwood.
Our salon interior was featured in all the beauty salon trade publications. We were setting the standard for other salons to meet.
We went from 2,500 to 10,000 square feet. From 1 facial room to an actual spa. From 12 hair stations to 30.
What a place!
Created our first signature haircut, “The Mitch”.
It was so exciting to have clients come in with photos of a hairstyle Mitchell’s had created and request that style.
Mitchell’s continues to expand, adding a 2nd location.
Mitchell’s opens in Hyde Park, making it our 3rd location!
Traveled to NYC for our first ‘Big City’ photo shoot.
Mitchell’s opens in West Chester, adding another premiere spa location!
Michael Gordon & Vidal Sassoon also visited us. It was an exciting year!
Mitchell’s celebrates 25 years, and we would gladly do it all again!
400 employees & voted “Best Spa” in Cincinnati for the 5th consecutive year.
