Hair Color at Mitchell’s Salon & Day Spa
By: Emily CryeI went to Mitchell’s West Chester location in April for a color between foils and haircut. From the moment I walked through the door I was pampered – which was unexpected. A lovely receptionist, Lauren, promptly checked me in and offered me a selection of beverages. I opted for the lemon water, which was served chilled in a wine glass.
For a few minutes I browsed around the lobby area perusing over the items for sale. My stylist Kendra, whom I had not previously met, walked over to me as I was looking through the basket of discount nail polish and introduced herself. She was extremely nice and we chatted as she walked me back to her station.
My hair had not been cut in three and a half months and not been colored in eight months – so I knew Kendra had her work cut out for her. She was very patient and understanding with me as I explained to her some of my hair catastrophes that have occurred in the past. My hair is naturally dark brown and I wanted to add some dimension to my hair. I showed her some inspiration pictures and she made me feel very comfortable as we decided on the best plan of action for my hair.
What I loved about Kendra was that she let me ask all of my questions and answered them in ways I easily understood for example, the difference between permanent and semi-permanent hair color and what to expect from both. As she applied the color (which took some time because I have a lot of hair!) we chatted about our families, her kids, and my job. I really enjoyed myself. Kendra periodically offered me more lemon water and magazines. Once the all of the color was on, Kendra walked me to the drying room where I sat for about 40 minutes, waiting for the color to set.
What impressed me the most was that someone from the Mitchell’s team was always checking on me to make sure I had everything I needed - from lemon water refills to magazines. Everyone went above and beyond what you’d expect in terms of customer service. They could not have been more attentive and helpful.
When Kendra came in to wash out the color and add the toner, I was nervous when I saw the contrast of the light and dark pieces. I wanted a subtle difference in the colors but it looked more dramatic. Turned out those nerves were for nothing - Kendra knew exactly what she was doing. The result was a deep, rich contrast of colors that accentuated my natural highlights while adding dimension. After a good deep shampoo and condition to get all of the dye out, Kendra gave me a nice cut and styled my hair beautifully.
I was extremely satisfied with my hair! It looked almost identical to the inspiration picture I showed Kendra and I really enjoyed the time I spent at the salon. I would recommend Kendra Smith and Mitchell’s Salon & Day Spa to anyone.
